About Cape May County Criminal History

Cape May County criminal records are divided among the Sheriff, local police departments, municipal courts, the Superior Court, and New Jersey agencies. The New Jersey State Police maintains the central fingerprint-supported history, while the Department of Corrections and the New Jersey Sex Offender Internet Registry serve narrower purposes. This privately operated reference resource organizes the official routes so readers can identify the right custodian, search tool, mailing address, or telephone number without treating any one source as a complete criminal history.

Why We Built This Site

New Jersey does not place every criminal record in one open name-search database. The arresting police agency keeps its report, the Cape May County Correctional Center keeps jail and booking information, and the court that heard a case maintains its charges and disposition. The New Jersey State Police, State Bureau of Identification, maintains the fingerprint-based repository but does not offer an unrestricted public search for another person's rap sheet. New Jersey Courts, the Department of Corrections, and the New Jersey Sex Offender Internet Registry each answer different questions. Cape May County Criminal History brings those official routes, request steps, fees, and office details into one organized reference.

What We Cannot Do

Cape May County Criminal History is a privately operated reference resource. It is not connected with a New Jersey court, police department, sheriff's office, or state agency. Those limits mean:

  • We do not obtain criminal records or conduct official background checks for any person
  • We cannot submit an OPRA request, expungement petition, or other filing for a reader
  • We do not provide certified court papers, criminal histories, or other official copies
  • We cannot offer legal advice about a charge, disposition, expungement, or individual case
  • We cannot promise that an agency's fee, address, telephone number, or procedure has not changed

An official record must come from its government custodian, such as the Sheriff, the New Jersey court that heard the case, or the New Jersey State Police.

Search Partners

Third-party companies power search boxes that appear on some pages. Each provider controls its own service, results, and prices. A paid enrollment reached through one of those tools may produce a referral fee for Cape May County Criminal History, which supports free public access to the reference material. We do not set the provider's charges and cannot control the contents of its results.
